Server log files

When you open this website, the hosting provider stores technically necessary information in server log files: IP address, date and time of access, requested address, status code, amount of data transferred, browser and operating-system details, and the referring page if your browser sends it.

• Purpose: operation and security of the website, detection and prevention of attacks.
• Hosting: server location Switzerland. The provider’s name is available on request.
• Retention: log files are deleted after about 7 days.

The log files are not analysed for marketing and are not combined with other data.

Email

If you send an email, your email address, the content of the message and any attachments are processed to answer your enquiry. There is no contact form.

• Email: server location Switzerland. The provider’s name is available on request.
• Retention: as long as needed to deal with the enquiry. Business correspondence is kept as long as the law requires.

For confidential content, you can encrypt your message with the PGP key on the contact page.

Business contacts

Triminus processes the contact details of people it writes to or talks with: organisations’ published contact details, replies and notes of conversations.

• Purpose: initiating business contacts and conversations about research collaboration.
• Tools: emails go through Triminus’s email provider.
• Processing abroad: contact details may be processed abroad in the process, including in the USA.
• Retention: only as long as the contact needs it. The details are deleted on request or after an objection.
• Disclosure: the details are not disclosed to third parties.

Processing in Switzerland

Server log files and email are processed in Switzerland, and no data from them is disclosed abroad. Business contacts are the exception (see “Business contacts”).

What this website does not do

• No cookies.
• No tracking and no analytics.
• No embedded third-party content: no maps, videos or social-media plugins.
• No scripts: the website runs without JavaScript.
• Fonts are served by this website itself; your browser makes no connection to font providers.

Your rights

Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP), you can in particular request access to your personal data, have incorrect data corrected, request deletion and object to processing. Send requests by email to contact@triminus.ch. You can also contact the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC).

Visitors from the EU

Where the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) applies, you have the rights under Art. 15–21 GDPR, including the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. The legal basis for server log files is the legitimate interest in operating the website securely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); for email, it is answering your enquiry (Art. 6(1)(b) and (f) GDPR); for business contacts, the legitimate interest in initiating business contacts (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
